The Details:

In May 2012, Ice Axe is offering an exciting ski touring trip out of Spitsbergen, Norway. Join this intimate 10-person ski-sail adventure just 600 miles south of the North Pole, and explore a land of never-ending light and virtually untouched terrain.

It is recommended to have a minimum of advanced intermediate ski skills to enjoy this expedition. The group will be divided into two teams, and you will be placed with skiers of like ability. Ice Axe keeps the client to guide ratio 4:1; safety and your comfort being of the utmost importance.

This trip is aboard the 62 foot sailboat yacht Arctica II. The sailboat is used as a basecamp, but much of the time  is spent off ship. There are no long crossings. Ski descents are only a few hours from Spitsbergen.

The small boat allows amazing versatility, including the use of zodiacs that allow simple access to shore for ski objectives and coming back to the boat for delicious, warm meals. The trip is limited to 8 clients per itinerary.

Included in your Spitsbergen Ski Cruise package:

*Ski guide services.

*Hotel night stay in Longyearbyen with continental breakfast

*Group transfers from the airport to the ship on embarkation and from the boat to the airport on disembarkation and all miscellaneous service taxes and port charges.

*Breakfast, lunch and dinner on board the boat.

*Shore landings and Zodiac excursions as permitted by weather and local conditions.

*Comprehensive pre-departure information package

Not Included:

*Airfares to or from your home city, whether on scheduled or charter flights

*Passport and visa expenses.

*Any government arrival and departure airport taxes.

*Ski or trekking equipment.

*Baggage, cancellation and travel insurance (emergency medical and evacuation insurance is mandatory. Ice Axe can help you to arrange this insurance if you need assistance. *Excess baggage charges.

*Telecommunications charges

*The customary gratuity at the end of the voyage for guides and yacht personnel.
